Municipality of Larissa
Description
A part of the port is depicted in the basis of two main painted areas, the one of the two verticals between the ships and the other of the large wharf. The hazy atmosphere shows off the volume and the detail of the ships, which contrasts with the large, almost monochrome surface of the second half of the picture. In the second level, there are some people carrying goods who boarded the ship, and some other figures with bygone clothing at the wharf of the port. A modern version in the category of port painting is constituted by the artist's effort to attribute the moment, the quick stroke of the paint brush and the interest in the atmosphere without depiction of an accurate representation.
