Description
In this painting we can see a country woman with a traditional Heptanesian costume feeding her chickens. The genre elements favors the narrative content, without, however, the painter's interest to be limited in it. With particular sensitivity he is trying to render the bright light and the overall mood of the scene. Short and vivid brushstrokes allow the interpenetration of light and color in the woman's clothing, while blue-gray shadows are detected in bird's feather and in the ground, which is pictured with unrealistic pink tones. Similar impressionist formulations are distinguished in the folliage of backgound, which are dematerialized in unformed tonic mazes.
