Description
harvest is one of the themes the painter dealt with many times in his paintings as it provided him the opportunity to attribute the vastnness of the fertile Thessalian plainboth syntetically and chromatically. In the specific work the S array of the women who are harvesting with tense and patience the wheat, divides the surface of the painting into two isosceles parts. the first one consists of the ready bundles which are attributes totaly abstractive as a simple chromatic sign and the second includes the mountains and the sky with the distinctive grey blue tone. As Fotos Voyiatzis notes in his study onthe painter 1976 " It's so amusing for someone to enjoy these tiny paintings that have inside them such vastness of the palin and are enlarged due to the technique of perspective that the artist employs with such success,
