Description
The female portrait presented here summarizes successfully the key features of the artist's style. The elderly woman is depicted in three-quarters stand on a neutral one color background. The simple, black clothing that she is wearing is little different from the bold dark shades in the backround, presenting an austere and rigorous atmosphere. The only point which is highlighted through the virtuose lighting is the face of the figure and especially the eyes,which are nailed to the viewer, creating a strong and almost inevitable contact. It is a project which surprises with its realism, as the physiognomical characteristics of the woman have been depicted without any trend of prettification.
