Description

The painting depicts a religious subject as someone can perceive, from the title. In first level, Christ is depicted witha nimbus as shepherd that bends affectionately above his flock which is constituted by seven lambs. He is holding a staff in his right hand while it stretches out his left to a lamb. In the background trees rise and the sky appears a little. The composition is vertical and is fixed so much by the form of Christ in the first level as wellas the trees in second. The painter has used the method of pointilism. With thick brushstrokes of clean colour placed one next to the other he creates the composition. Its tones are light red, white, green and light blue.
