Description
The difficult conditions of rural life in earlier times give occasion for a realistic and a little unusual theme.An old figure walks in a desert outdoor landscape, which is closed in the depth by mountains, pulling a donkey on which she has loaded a white sheep.The tired figure of the old man who wears fustanella and rustic shoes and both the animals behind him, are rendered with the contrast of black and white.In adittion, the composition of the painting is based on the diagonal placement of the elements in the space and in the contrast with the major surfaces of the earth and cold tones of soil and the depth respectively.
