Description
The scene takes place in the interior of a house and situates the project in the tradition of genre painting. The woman on the right who is occupied with the spinning is the only presence in the area and probably is a characteristic example of Greek woman from the countryside in the early 20th century. The red, white and blue of clothing are combined in harmony The painter did not focus his attention on the female figure, but he wants to give the climate,the atmosphere and the mood.The artistic attitude of the artist is reflected on the details of the household's decorative objects. The composition is balanced: the oblique axis of the fireplace corresponds to the oblique axis that forms the backbone of the woman.
