Description
The theme is taken by the Greek island tradition.A bulky,suntanned female figure, dressed in traditional island costume is seated on a mantel and she is knitting.She wears a long blue caftan, striped apron and white kerchief. Behind of her there are a settlement of white cubic houses, some dry mountains and a windmill.The depiction is based on the contrast of earth brown and cold blue.Generally,the painter has managed to attribute the island simplicity and atmosphere and that, thanks to the few neutral and pale colors and to the brief depiction of the figures, which their deformations tend to the Expressionism.
