Description
The painting is a portrait. However, it is not associated with the bourgeoisie and its representatives such as the classic portrait which was appeared in Greece since the years of reign of King Otto.It could be described as genre painting portrait.Tsirigotis pictures a swarthy, bearded old man, whose depiction is achieved by the use of intense color tones.The achieved result is very beautiful as we can see from the characteristic red cover of the head. This figure which is emerged from the undefined depth has something of the flavor and the atmosphere of the East. The details are avoided, large volumes dominate and the chosen script tends to realism.
