Description

The "lamentation of Chandaka", is inspired by the homonymous title of the song. Two women dressed in black, are lamenting andmourning for the destruction of Chandaka (Heraklion). One is fallen on her knees and the other stands with the hands turned towards the sky. The lamentation of two women comes contrary to the sense of calm and peacefulness that comes out from the presence of birds on the tree to the left and on the fountain to the right. The composition follows the Byzantine models and reminds intensely of the Byzantine manuscripts. Two -dimensional output, absence of prospect, intense modelling on the faces and stylished folding on the clothing.
