Description

Vassiliou in the this bifoliate re-writes figuratively the most well known perhaps extract from "Freely Beseiged" by Dionysios Solomos. In the representation everyone mentioned in the poem exist. The mother with her son, the Soyliotis and the bird. Specifically in the person of the Soylioti the discomfort from suffering from the war is impressed. The composition follows the Byzantine models and reminds intensely of the Byzantine manuscripts. Two-dimensional output, absence of prospect, intense modelling on the faces and stylished folding in the clothing.
