Description
One of the topics that the painter has worked with real persistence throughout his long carrer is that of the snowy landscape. He even admits that: «The snow touches me ... I want to render this simplicity that exists in the winter landscape, simplicity in shape and color». Indeed,in the «Lakeside chapel in the snow» the simple, geometrically structured composition -- the frozen lake and the human figures in the foreground, the picturesque snowy church and the sky in the background are combined in harmony with the simple colors that are created by the little light of the sunset on the white snow.
