Registration Mourelou – Orfanou Ellie
(1922-2011)
Biography
Ellie Mourelou – Orfanou was born in Piraeus in 1922. She studied art at A.S.F.A for 4 years. During the period 1952-1955 she studied art at École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. She later continued her studies in Paris at Ecole d' Art Italien, where she specialised in mosaic art. The American College for Girls in Athens recruited her as the director of the Arts department for the period 1949 -1979. She excelled as an artist with specialisation in mosaic art. In 1961 she was awarded by G.N.T.O for designing the commercial poster of Greece. She died in Athens in 2011.
